Who we are
The data controller is Julen Lara Trigo, trading as Sortflare, Calle Sanguín Kalea 1-1E, 31192 Aranguren (Navarra), Spain. For anything about your data, write to privacy@sortflare.com.
The short version
Sortflare sorts pages inside your browser. The posts, captions and metrics it reads never leave your machine, with one exception you choose per clip: transcription. We do not sell data, we do not build advertising profiles, and we never ask for your social media password.
What the extension reads
On Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, Sortflare reads the post lists those sites return to your own signed-in session — the same data the page itself displays. It is sorted and shown in a panel in your browser. It is not transmitted to us and it is not stored beyond the tab you are looking at.
What we store on our servers
- Your email address, to identify your account, send sign-in codes, and send a few emails about the product itself, each at most once and each for a reason: a welcome note; a reminder if the free daily Pro scan goes unused for two days; what the first scan unlocked; what Pro costs, next to what the other sorters charge; the questions people ask before paying; a note if a checkout was opened and not finished; one when Pro is bought; and one asking for an honest review. Every one carries a link that stops them, the switch on your account page does the same, and sign-in codes are never affected. Replies go to a person.
- What those emails key on: which of them you have received and when; the hour of day you last used Sortflare, so they arrive at a sensible time; how many free Pro scans you have spent; when a second scan in a day was refused, and on how many days; and when a checkout was opened. Addresses that bounce or report an email as spam are kept so that nothing more is sent to them.
- Purchase state — plan, status, purchase date and a Stripe customer id. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
- Transcription usage — how many seconds you have transcribed this month, so the included allowance can be counted.
Transcription
When you press Transcribe, the extension downloads the clip in your browser and sends it to our server, which passes it to a speech-to-text provider (OpenRouter, routing to Groq or DeepInfra) and returns the text. The audio is held only for the length of that request and is not stored afterwards. Neither we nor the provider use it to train models. If you never press Transcribe, no media ever leaves your machine.
What the extension stores locally
Your settings, your licence state and a rolling log of which reader answered on each platform — used to diagnose breakages. All of it lives in your browser's extension storage. Clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it removes all of it.
Browser permissions
Chrome lists an extension's permissions when you install it. Here is what Sortflare asks for, and why:

Sortflare does not read your Chrome profile and never asks for access to every website. Your email address reaches us only when you type it into the sign-in form.
Analytics
We run no third-party analytics, no advertising pixels and no session recording.
Who handles data on our behalf
We use a small number of providers, each for one job: Stripe (payments; it holds your card details, we never see them), OpenRouter routing to Groq or DeepInfra (speech to text, only for a clip you ask to transcribe), Resend (delivering sign-in codes and the product emails, and telling us which addresses bounced or complained), Hetzner (the server, in the European Union) and Cloudflare (DNS for sortflare.com). None of them may use your data for anything but the service they provide to us.
How long we keep it
Your email address and purchase state stay for as long as your account exists, because they are what proves you bought a lifetime licence. Sign-in codes expire after ten minutes. Transcription usage is counted per calendar month; the audio itself is discarded as soon as the transcript is returned. When you ask us to delete your account, everything above goes with it, except the payment record Stripe is required to keep for accounting.
Why we are allowed to
We process your email and purchase state to provide what you bought (performance of a contract), and a clip you send to transcribe because you asked for that transcript. The product emails go to people who created an account, about that same product, which Spanish law (LSSI, art. 21.2) allows for existing customers with an opt-out offered when the address is collected and in every message: the sign-in form says so, and every email and your account page carry the switch. We do not rely on consent for anything else, so there is nothing to withdraw beyond unsubscribing or deleting your account.
Your rights
Email privacy@sortflare.com to get a copy of your data, to correct it, or to have your account and everything attached to it deleted. Deletion is permanent and takes effect within 30 days. Removing the extension clears everything it stored locally.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your supervisory authority; ours is the Spanish Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms.
Children
Sortflare is a professional research tool and is not directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the extension will tell you before the change takes effect.
